Om Guillaume
Before Guillaume Chastagnol dominated the sport of snowkiting he had already – as a professional snowboarder – secured a fifth-placed finish at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, taken four French Championship halfpipe titles, and also bagged a silver medal at the 1998 X Games.
The sport was rocked when the fast-living Frenchman gave all that up to focus on a fledgling pursuit few boarders had heard of, let alone tried. Chasta was hooked though and keen to spread the word: “Snowkiting is snowboarding with a third dimension. You can fly up the mountain, and that is only the beginning - this sport has no borders.” The rest, as they say, is history. His unrivaled trickery and effortless style pushed the boundaries of what was possible on the slopes, and three world titles quickly followed. To this day Chasta lives for kiting and is still pushing those boundaries in a way only he can.
